01 MADRAS

Arrive Madras. Meeting and transfer to the hotel. (check-in time 12 noon). Overnight at hotel.

Morning city tour visiting the Fort of St. George, High Court, Fort Museum, Marina Beach, Santhome Cathedral and Snake park and drive past the Flower and Fruit market.

Afternoon at leisure or free for optional activities.

Overnight at hotel.

In time transfer to railway station to board the train (Shatabdi Ex.) for Bangalore.

Arrive Bangalore and drive to Hassan visiting Sravanabelagola en route.

Arrive Hassan and check into the hotel. Afternoon excursion to Belur and Halebid. In Belur visit Cheena Kesva Temple built in 1117 A.D. and in Halebid visit Chenningaraja Temple.

Overnight at hotel.

Morning depart Hassan by surface for Mysore. Arrive Mysore and check in at hotel.

Afternoon city tour visiting Maharaja Palace, Art Gallery and drive to Chamundi hill to see Chamundeshwari Temple and a panoramic view of Mysore. Visit the Nandi Bull.

Overnight at hotel.

Morning drive to Bangalore visiting Enroute visit Srirangapatnam - 16 Kms before Mysore. Visit the Fort and Palaces of Tipu Sultan, Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace, Daria Daulat and his Mausoleum.

Arrive Bangalore and proceed for a half day city tour of Bangalore visiting Cubbon Park, which is a huge tree studded lawn spread over 300 acres with a number of public buildings gracing its boundaries. Located at one end of the park is the magnificent Vidhana Souda built after independence, stands out by its imposing architecture in the neo Dravidian style. Lal Bagh - laid some 200 years back, the gardens are spread over 240 acres and have a thousand varieties of trees and plants. A glass House built on the lines of the Crystal palace of London, is the venue of flower shows. Visit the Bull Temple built in the Dravidian style of architecture. It has a huge Nandi Bull carved out of a single grey granite.

Evening transfer to railway station to board the train (Shatabdi Ex.) for Madras.

In time transfer to railway station to board the train Vaigai Express to Trichy.

Arrive Trichy and transfer to hotel.

Overnight at hotel.

Morning city tour visiting the ancient temples dedicated to Lord Ganapathi situated on a high rock. The ascent through 434 steps is climaxed by a magnificent view of the sacred Kaveri river. Visit Srirangam, a massive temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu.

Early afternoon drive to Tanjore. Arrive Tanjore and check in at hotel followed by sightseeing tour of Tanjore. Later visit the famous Chola temple of Brihadeshwara. Also, visit Art Gallery and Saraswati Mahal Library.

Morning visit a South Indian village and Coconut Plantation on the banks of the River cauvery. Return to Tanjore and enjoy a Bullock Cart ride through the town.

Overnight at hotel.

Morning sightseeing tour of Madurai visiting the Tirumala Nayak Palace - a gracious building in the Indo-Saracenic style, famous for the Stucco work on its domes and arches.
